Sow….
(Sowing some thoughts and dreams ….)
Anger. Oh yes, I am going to talk about anger. An emotion I avoided for most of my life as anger was used so badly against me, in so many ways when I was younger, until I reprogrammed my brain, using an element of Neuro Linguistic Programming, to stop the pattern of anger being used against me in my life. (What a powerful tool to be able to remap the patterns in your life so that you can have the ones you do want, rather than the ones you don’t and change the reality that you live in!)
In society we can see how the emotion of anger is used recklessly, destructively and hurtfully. Around the 80’s and 90’s we were also taught, via movies and tv shows that anger can make a man look troubled and therefore attractive and sexy and in the early years of the 30’s and 40’s anger in relationships showed passion, desire and possibly love.
Anger is one of the emotions that has been most maligned in its misuse.
So – I have recently felt some anger, which is why this subject has come up for me and with most things, I try to carefully consider why – what is this pressure point doing for me? Why do I feel angry, what is it within me that is reacting and what is the other person projecting on to me to drive the emotions I am feeling?
We’ll often find that whatever someone is ‘making’ you feel, is what they are feeling underneath – so if someone is always on the attack (verbally, emotionally) – it’s likely because they’ve felt like a victim at some point and haven’t resolved that trauma (it doesn’t make projection of that ok!!).
Interestingly my anger has been the triggered element of self-worth – heck it’s a big one for pretty much everyone and a subject that can really define the manifestation of your dreams and desires, so from this perspective – I’m glad to have been triggered!
By being triggered I can not only address any issues of self-worth within me (and you’ll find there are always layers to clearing things, I’ve worked to clear a great deal of low self-worth belief, but it seems there’s still more because all of these things are complexly linked around us.) but I’ll also be able to reassert my boundaries of what’s ok and what’s not ok to those triggering me, which is always an act of self-love.
I’d just like to insert here the quote by Paulo Coelho ‘Maybe the journey is about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.’
Sign me up for this adventure and challenge – I love the puzzle of life and how to create the reality that you wish for!
Anyway, getting back to our original subject – anger is our friend. If you embrace your anger it not only enables passion in your life about what is wrong and right for you, it also shows you areas of you that may need to be healed. One thing I have learnt is that behind each persons anger tends to be some form of sadness, hurt or vulnerability – just like a mis-treated animal, may act defensive because at some point they haven’t been treated with value and love.
If there is a point in which you haven’t been treated with value or love it’s so important to proactively do something about it, rather than sitting in the dis-empowerment of not being valued or loved – find ways to heal that, be your own personal cheerleader! Do things that value you, speak up and use your voice to state what you want and reinforce it by taking positive actions to bring what you want into your life. Anger so easily pushes us into a victim mentality, a feeling of suppression or dis-empowerment. Whether you’re experiencing anger or are on the receiving end of anger (always take yourself out of volatile situations), observe the emotion, observe the emotions that it is raising within you and consider what it’s telling you and how you can resolve that element that is being pushed to the surface by this applied pressure.
Always remember – sometimes our biggest enemies (the ones causing us the most upset!) are the ones making us the most amazing hero of our story – the bigger and badder the enemy, the bigger and most amazing character you become and that person will have signed a soul contract to help you learn those soul lessons, so always be grateful for all experiences you are able to receive on this planet.
With a loving heart,
Rose x
